this is your brain on tequilla. a lot of tequilla.

at various times in the last few days, i felt a little like this photo, some what strung tight, and at the same time cut off at the ankles. i managed to think thursday was friday, all day friday was saturday, and somehow sunday became saturday as well. there were few things i was supposed to get done (nothing critcal, like donate a kidney), that didnt happen.

alcohol was NOT a factor, but then, neither was a calendar. i think i am all caught up now.

the sunshine has come out in full force, and i am going to blame that. i had sun sickness.

these are pictures from april 23 – 25

on the 23rd, the snow was about 6 inches past the ledge. then a storm blew up, and you can see the results.

i like the close up of the ice on the left…

but spring is on the way, you can almost see patches of tundra grass, and the snow is blowing off the frozen watery bits.

half the year i live in a work camp. it is mostly comfortable, and considering some of the housing options at work, i have deluxe digs.

and they feed us pretty good here, if you like steaks on tuesday, prime rib on thursday, and fried stuff all the time. to make things more *festive*,  someone on the kitchenstaff makes these wonderful ice sculptures for the holiday meals.

they also have parked them by the front door to camp, after the festivities are over. there is a cornucopia from thanksgiving, these delightful hearts from valentines, and even a heisman trophy from superbowl. yes, apparently that is another holiday that warrants a fancy meal and near beer for the party.

this is the sort of stuff one does when you work for 2 weeks straight. you will do just about anthing to see something green growing when all you have seen for the past 10 days is white. white sky. white ground, and at dinner, they serve white rice. again.

i LOVE the motion in this image. makes things feel fast…. i am the dutiful daughter and make cakes for birthdays…   mmm sachertorte… the great thing about a dry cake like sachertorte, is that you can come home 2 weeks later, and the cake is still as good as the day after you baked it. plop on some whipped cream, and you are good to go.

this morning we are in phase 1 driving conditions, which means, proceed with caution – there is a likelihood you could get stuck, and it’s not going to be pleasant getting unstuck.

phase 2 is: buddy up, and don’t go out unless you have to

phase 3 is: WE’RE GOING TO DIE. everyone in lockdown until further notice.

yeah, we get a lot of phase 1 around here.

currently it is sort of warm… 26F with 26mph wind from the north. windchill makes that seem like 13F.
